2017 Spätburgunder Muschelkalk

Our Muschelkalk wines are a selection of our top grapes and barrels from the vineyards of the local wines. The wines grow here on soils with large intermediate layers of shell limestone. With Pinot Noir, only the best barrels mature longer.

The wine:
Solid nose, many juicy berry aromas, fine tannins with a strong elegance and a long finish. Cool mineral and wild herbs. The wood is finely integrated. The wine comes with a lot of pressure and presence on the palate.

Origin:
Rheinhessen | Gau-Odernheim | Petersberg

Grape variety:
100 % Pinot Noir

Viticulture: 100 % Barrique
The fully ripe grapes are picked by hand in several passes. This is followed by a maceration time of 12 hours. Fermentation takes place spontaneously on the mash, with a subsequent standing time after fermentation of 4-6 weeks. The wine remains unadorned and matures 30% in new barriques, 30% in barriques from the second occupancy and the rest in third and fourth occupancy. After 15-18 months, the 4-5 best barrels are selected and filled without being filtered. The wine then matures in the bottle for another 8-10 months.
